Jane Ring Frank

From 1998-2010, Jane Ring Frank served as Artistic Director/Founder of Boston Secession, a 23-voice professional chorus dedicated to musical excellence, a lush but transparent tone, and keen scholarship. Ms. Frank’s CD, “Surprised by Beauty: Minimalism in Choral Music,” received accolades in the New York Times, Gramophone, and American Record Guide as well as a number of smaller magazines, journals, and blogs. In past seasons, Boston Secession participated in scholar collaborations, including the premiere of “regardisregard,” the work of two WSRC scholars - artist Mary Oestereicher Hamill and composer Ruth Lomon. Boston Secession also premiered many movements of Ms. Lomon’s “Testimony of Witnesses,” an oratorio based on the poetry of Holocaust victims and survivors.

Ms. Frank is the newly-appointed Artistic Director of Cantemus Chamber Chorus, located on Boston’s North Shore. She is also Artistic Director of the Concord Women’s Chorus, a 70-voice ensemble specializing in the works of women composers, and is Minister of Music at the First Congregational Church in Winchester. She is in demand to conduct professional choruses for freelance CD projects in Boston. For a number of years, Ms. Frank was the Conductor of Philovox, E.C. Schirmer’s Professional Recording Chorus and a faculty member at Emerson College.

Current Projects

Ms. Frank is working with the Concord Women’s Chorus and its board of directors to develop a strategic plan over the next 2-3 years, resulting in a national tour, a special commissioning fund and a large-scale Women’s Chorus Festival focused on the music of women composers. The Festival will include college, community, and professional choirs with renowned adjudicators/ judges.
