Gabriel Robinson

Gabriel is a writer, artist, and researcher who focuses on visual narratives such as comics and film. Her work explores the structures of gender, class, and history that shape our symbolic worlds. She grew up in West Virginia, went to Bard College in New York, and studied History of Religions at the University of Chicago, where she earned a PhD. In recent years she has worked as a documentary film researcher and an academic editor. She lives in Cambridge, MA, with her partner, Gavin Kleespies, and their two-year-old son, Otto.

Current Projects

I am working on a feature-length screenplay based on the historical figure of Catalina de Erauso, a late 16th-century Basque woman who ran away from the convent, disguised herself as a man, and became a conquistador in colonial Peru and Chile.
