Take Care in 3 Steps
Step 1. How are you doing?
Assess your body, mind and spirit.
Step 2. Is your current path serving you?
Is it getting you closer to your goal in a healthy way?
- Yes - Is there something you can do to make things easier?
- Not sure - Talk it out help you gain clarity and figure out next steps. Your academic or ISSO advisor, manager, coach, faculty, Dean, Community Advisor or Area Coordinator, etc. are some options.
- No - What could taking a turn look like? How might you start to make a change or try something differently? Review the "talk it out" options from step 2 or continue to step 3.
Step 3. Consider additional resources. Some ideas:

Why might a peer submit an I Care Form?
- Not sure what to do but concerned (not emergency in need of police)
- mental health/sleep/eating concerns seem different than baseline
- not sure if should approach; or feel ok to approach, but unsure of how to support
- issue may (or not) be serious or in violation of Rights and Responsibilities, but seems unusual
- Issue(s) too much for peer to “carry”
- "gut" need for professionals to know—something is really wrong
- busy with own life (e.g., academics, commitments)—limited bandwidth
- interfering with “normal” functioning (e.g., mood/sleep/ eat/study)
- spilling over into extended friend group or living community
- Tried talking to peer experiencing distress, but…
- issue(s) is getting worse
- level of concern is increasing
- conversation didn’t go well
- not sure peer is following through on advice/getting help/accessing resources
