Love and Fury: Trump Takes on North Korea and Iran

A Q&A Discussion with Robert Gallucci

April 11, 2019

Transcript

Even though President Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, he has reached out to North Korea — despite the latter’s possession of nuclear weapons. In this Q&A session, Robert Gallucci will discuss the history and prospects of U.S. efforts to contain and eventually eliminate North Korea’s nuclear weapons threat, while maintaining peace and security on the Korean peninsula. Gallucci served for over twenty years in the U.S. government, including as a negotiator for the first U.S.-North Korean nuclear agreement in 1994. He is a Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University. He holds an MA (’68) and PhD (’74) in Politics from Brandeis University.

Moderated by Gary Samore, Senior Executive Director of the Crown Center and Professor of Practice in Politics at Brandeis University.

Co-sponsored with the Department of Politics and the International and Global Studies program at Brandeis University.
