4th International Colloquium- Universidad Hebraica
All are invited to join Universidad Hebraica for the 4th International Colloquium. The Hebrew Consortium Director, Prof. Vardit Ringvald, will be part of a panel named The Place of Language in the Construction of Cultural Identity. Keynote speakers include Bonny Norton, widely known for developing identity theories in the field of Second Language Acquisition. Lectures will be conducted in Spanish, English, and Hebrew and will include simultaneous translation. The colloquium is all remote. The Colloquium will take place on September 4th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mexico Standard Time. Participation costs $30 USD for the entire day of lectures.

Past Events
The Consortium for the Teaching of Hebrew Language and Culture held over the summer two short PDs, each incorporating theory and hands-on practice.
The topics that were offered were-
- Warm-up activities for the Hebrew language classrooms. This PD was taught by Yonit Cohen, who has been an educator for 37 years, including 20 years of experience teaching Hebrew as a second language. Yonit develops engaging instructional units and integrates all language skills into each lesson, bringing positive energy and an experiential approach to the classroom. In addition to teaching, Yonit trains Hebrew language educators and enjoys incorporating games and creative activities into the learning experience.
- Gaming and gamifying of the Hebrew language classrooms. This PD was taught by Aya Haj Yahea, who is a doctoral candidate at Middlebury College with over nine years of experience teaching Hebrew and Arabic as second languages. Aya develops curricula and creates advanced digital courses for teaching Hebrew and Arabic, incorporating innovative and gamified teaching approaches. Her doctoral research explores the relationship between identity and language acquisition, as well as the role of experiential learning in language education. In addition to her research, Aya also works as a teacher trainer specializing in second language instruction and experiential pedagogy.
Each topic was offered twice, on the following dates
Session 1: Sunday–Monday, July 13–14
Session 2: Sunday–Monday, August 10–11

$36 for one topic
$50 for both topics (regardless of session dates)
