AI-Automated 3D Printable Prosthetics Generation Project
Benjamin Lambright, B.A., M.S. (2025), used BDI to complete his Master’s capstone project, LLM Assistant for 3D-Printable Prosthetics Generation and Assembly. In this project, he developed an AI system that could modify online 3D printable prosthetic files to fit a user, built an interactive search engine for users to ask specific questions about the instruction manual, and built prosthetic prototypes using Brandeis’ MakerLab. Through Brandeis’ DeisHacks hackathon, affiliated with BDI, Ben was first introduced to the non-profit organization E-NABLE that builds 3D printable prosthetics and inspired his project. Staff at BDI connected him with relevant resources at Brandeis and E-NABLE, and taught him how to 3D print in order for him to complete his project. Ben is now putting these skills to use as an NLP Engineer at Babel Street.
Ben's project was also covered by Brandeis Stories.
