BDI Community Outreach and Collaborations
BDI loves collaborating with the community. In addition to Deishacks, our student-run Hackathon for Social Good, we work with the community on a wide array of events throughout the year. Some of our recent collaborations are listed below, and you can find more examples on our Events and In the News pages.
- Full-day BDI experience with Boston Police Teen Academy's summer program.
Students used drone simulators, toured BDI spaces and saw equipment demos, and toured campus with BDI student staff while discussing the college experience. Learn more about the multi-year collaboration. - Drone workshop for a Maker-focused summer camp at Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation.
Elementary-aged students learned about drones and flew them through an indoor obstacle course. - Design workshop for Brandeis alumni
Attendees designed and made custom luggage tags using the laser cutter in the Engineering Classroom. - Creating swag for CDCW (Community Day Center Waltham)'s fundraising Gala
- Retired, good condition equipment donations provided to non-profit organizations and public schools
- Hands-on digital archaeology lesson for Wellesley Middle School 7th graders using real ancient artifacts from Brandeis' CLARC Collection
