Requirements

All Macromolecular Structure and Mechanism Training Program (MSM) students complete the following four core courses. These courses give comprehensive training in the science underlying the study the structures and reaction mechanisms of proteins, DNA and RNA:

• BCHM 101a Advanced Biochemistry: Enzyme Mechanisms (syllabus)

• BCHM 102a Quantitative Approaches to Biochemical Systems (course info & syllabus)

• BCBP 200b: Macromolecular structure-function analysis (syllabus)

• BCHM 104b Physical Chemistry of Macromolecules (course info & syllabus)

In addition to the core curriculum, students take three advanced level electives. Students doing research projects that focus on macromolecular structure are encouraged to take one or more of the advanced courses on experimental and computational methods in structural biology:

• BCHM 171b Protein X-ray Crystallography

• CHEM 146b Advanced NMR Spectroscopy
