Mark Shirman joined the board of directors at Cloud Silver Lining, where he will assist the startup in its efforts to help enterprise clients worldwide evolve their businesses using Cloud innovation. Mark has nearly 30 years of entrepreneurial experience building IT services companies. He serves as president and CEO of RiverMeadow, a provider of migration software. Before joining RiverMeadow, he co-founded and served as CEO of GlassHouse Technologies. Len Gerzon of Amherst, N.H., ran for state representative in New Hampshire. He serves as a senior consultant at Public Service of New Hampshire, the state’s largest utility, where he has worked for 27 years. He has also been city assessor in Everett, Mass., and worked as a private consultant to cities and towns on property tax assessment matters. Len’s first job, at age 12, was working for his father’s photography business. Leon Sher is the new cantor at Har Sinai Temple, a Reform synagogue in Pennington, N.J. In a profile in New Jersey Jewish News, Leon mentioned that David Wisnia, Har Sinai’s former cantor of 22 years, also served as cantor at Leon’s boyhood temple in Pennsylvania. “For me, the traditional cantorial role, I always imagine Cantor Wisnia in my mind,” Leon told the newspaper. “When I sing what I consider traditional cantorial music, Cantor Wisnia’s voice is in my ear.” Leon spent 17 years in the computer industry before deciding to become a professional cantor. He was invested as a cantor in 2003 at New York’s Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Lisa Kitinoja founded the Postharvest Education Foundation, which trains extension workers, scientists, postharvest professionals and graduate students in many countries around the world, offering them the knowledge, skills and experience they need to help their local populations reduce postharvest losses and food waste. The foundation provides postharvest e-learning programs and desk studies on postharvest technology options and cold chain management. Lisa was invited to participate in a National Academy of Sciences study on global postharvest losses/food waste, which was launched in August.
