Joshua Eisenberg accepted a fellowship with the Open Science Data Cloud’s Partnership for International Research and Education and is spending the summer conducting informatics research in Edinburgh. Matthew Kupfer, who has been studying advanced Russian in St. Petersburg, Russia, since graduating from Brandeis, was named a junior fellow at the Washington, D.C.-based Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. A double major in international and global studies, and anthropology, with a minor in Russian literature, he wrote his honors thesis on the interethnic conflict in southern Kyrgyzstan after witnessing the tensions while living with an Uzbek family during a summer internship. As a junior fellow, Matthew will provide research assistance to associates of the Carnegie Endowment’s Russian/Eurasian projects.
