Trenya Garner, Ed.D., MPA

Principal Systems Analyst, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Dr. Trenya Garner is the Principal Systems Analyst for the Center for Healthcare Quality and Analytics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is responsible for managing the hospital-wide safety metrics scorecard, event reporting database systems administration, and developing analysis reports for hospital data. In addition, she leads the governance committee, which devises recommendations for database systems improvements. Her role also includes serving as the liaison for external data reporting and training clinical and non-clinical staff on proper software usage.

Dr. Garner earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Temple University, a Master of Public Administration from Villanova University, and a Doctor of Education with a concentration in Healthcare Communication and Leadership from Louisiana State University Shreveport. She holds an Executive Education Certificate from Harvard Business School and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and ScrumMaster. Before joining the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Garner was the Manager of Quality Data at Catholic Health East (CHE), a multi-institutional health system located throughout the Eastern United States, where she managed a full turnkey satisfaction survey administration operation for over 15,000 patients and residents.

In addition to her years of experience in healthcare, Dr. Garner was an adjunct professor at Saint Joseph’s University’s Department of Decision and System Sciences, where she taught both graduate and undergraduate management information systems classes. She is a member of the Board of Trustees at Jefferson Health-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, where she also serves on the Board’s Clinician Affairs Committee.
