Maintaining Campus Safety

Dear Brandeisians,

We are writing to remind the campus community of our Campus Use of Space Policy, which has been updated consistent with Interim President Levine’s April 7 message.  We want to reinforce how seriously we take any disruptions to campus operations and threats to campus safety.

Important reminders and updates regarding demonstrations, protests, and rallies:

  • Demonstrations, protests, and rallies organized by either recognized groups or other sponsoring students must be registered with the Dean of Students Office (DOSO), and representatives must meet jointly with DOSO and Public Safety prior to the event taking place. These representatives are responsible for compliance with university policies at such events, including, for example, identifying a protest area that is agreed upon with the University. Failure to comply will result in orders to immediately disperse.
  • Brandeis Community Members are not permitted to invite third parties to attend demonstrations, protests, or rallies on campus. Any attendees to any demonstration, protest, or rally on campus who are not Brandeis Community Members are not permitted on campus and will be required to leave. Those who invite or encourage the attendance of third parties to attend demonstrations, protests, and rallies on campus may be subject to discipline.
  • If a properly identified University official requests identification, a Brandeis Community Member attending a demonstration, protest, or rally must present a valid Brandeis University identification card.
  • Full face masks may not be worn to conceal one’s identity and anyone wearing one for this purpose will be required to remove it. If a mask is worn for religious or medical reasons, a Brandeis University identification card must be presented upon request.
  • All directives from uniformed Public Safety, members of the Student Support Team, and other university officials must be followed.

We will enforce all aspects of the Campus Use of Space policy and other applicable policies and disciplinary processes.

We thank you for helping ensure that our campus maintains a safe environment.

Sincerely,
