Developing Global Leaders with a Commitment to the Jewish Future

The mission of the Brandeis-Genesis Institute for Russian Jewry (BGI) is to galvanize the Russian-speaking Jewish community around the world by empowering young adults to actively engage in Jewish life, nurturing a cadre of effective communal professionals and strengthening the field of Russian Jewish studies.

BGI programs are built on three pillars of impact:

Community Engagement

BGI inspires Russian-speaking young adults to engage in Jewish life by fostering global connections, strengthening their Russian-Jewish identity and deepening their knowledge of Jewish heritage.

Research and Scholarship

BGI strengthens the field of Russian Jewish studies by providing grants to support research and scholarly publications in the field of Russian Jewish experience, developing academic courses and organizing academic events.

Professional Development

BGI nurtures a cadre of effective communal professionals, fortified by superior management skills, Jewish knowledge, a systematic understanding of the Russian and American Jewish communities, and a commitment to the future of the Jewish people.
