From regional startups to some of the world’s largest corporations, more and more organizations are turning to new technologies to streamline their financial systems. With innovation and entrepreneurship playing an increasingly critical role within the financial sector, there is a growing need for leaders in FinTech — a rapidly growing field that focuses on a hybrid of finance, software, analytics and the user experience. While FinTech was originally used to describe any technology that helped users transact business, the industry has since expanded to include digital innovations in investments, banking, startups, the crypto-currency market and more.

The 30-credit program has eight required courses and two electives.

Admissions Criteria

Digital Innovation for FinTech applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • An undergraduate degree in any field with some coursework in general finance or economics. (Students who do not meet this requirement will need to complete a free online course.)
  • At least some basic experience with a programming language.

The 30-credit Digital Innovation for FinTech program has seven required courses and three electives. Required courses provide students with a focused education surrounding fundamental topics in the field, while electives build upon specific professional skillsets and allow students to enrich and round out their studies.

Digital Innovation for FinTech

Meet our featured faculty

As a student in the FinTech program, you will work with faculty who are already known as experts in their field. Your FinTech faculty will include Ashley Nagle Eknaian, the program chair for the MS in Digital Innovation for FinTech. She is also the managing director at State Street Corporation’s Emerging Technologies Center and has more than 15 years of experience in financial services. Ashley holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Boston University and a Master’s in Business Administration with concentrations in finance and international business from Northeastern University.
