Student Testimonial

"During the course, we formed teams that were very much like real virtual teams that we would normally have in real life. I now have many takeaways from the course and a list of best practices that I can use in a real setting."

Virtual Team Management and Communication

Today, almost every professional position in any field requires the sharing in and direction of the work of others via the Internet — whether one’s colleagues are in the same building or on the other side of the world. Virtual team management and communication involves:

  • Understanding and managing the development and direction of teams at a distance.
  • The dynamic of communication within an organization.
  • The impacts of distance and diversity on business practices and activity.
  • The expectations of diverse legal and ethical environments.
  • Culturally diverse business habits and practices in a worldwide environment.

The Virtual Team Management and Communication program in the Division of Graduate Professional Studies provides a framework for understanding and managing many sociocultural, regulatory and geographic issues in a worldwide environment.

The program is targeted for team members, team leaders and managers working in virtual and globally distributed teams.

Program Outcomes

Graduates with a Master of Science in Virtual Team Management and Communication are prepared to:

  • Apply knowledge of virtual team-leadership techniques and worldwide environments to foster better virtual team-building and direction.

  • Negotiate and manage contracts in various environments and identify and resolve conflicts in a virtual environment.
