"There is in most...some spark of idealism, which can be fanned into a flame. It takes sometimes a divining rod to find what it is; but when found, and that means often, when disclosed to the owners, the results are often most extraordinary."

The Summer 2009 Louis D. Brandeis Legacy Fund for Social Justice WOW Fellowships

The Louis D. Brandeis Social Justice WOW Fellowship is a prestigious grant of $3,500/4,000 to support an undergraduate performing an unpaid, full-time summer internship in an agency whose mission addresses issues of Social Justice.  These 15-20 awards are supported by the Louis D. Brandeis Legacy Fund for Social Justice, which supports a wide-range of activities that reflect the University's and our namesake's, commitment to Social Justice.

Funds are to defray the costs of participating in an unpaid internship, and can be used for housing, travel, tuition or personal compensation.

The cohort of 15-20 recipients will participate in several events as a group before and after the internship and each is encouraged to work with a faculty member in the fall by enrolling in an internship course, such as PAX 89a (for internships in international ethics) or SJSP 89 Internship Seminar in Social Justice and Social Policy.

2009 Deadline is March 13, 2009!
