Where are you interning now (or have interned in the past)?

I'm interning in ABN AMRO Bank (China) in Shanghai now. ABN AMRO Bank is a famous bank from Netherlands and ranks 67th in the Fortune Global 500 (2007). ABN AMRO Bank (China) was awarded one of the five best foreign banks in China in 2007.

How did you find your internship?

My friend who was a former staff in ABN AMRO Bank (China) recommended me to work as an intern there. Then I sent my resume to the HR Department and obtained an interview. After two-round interview, I was fortunately enrolled.

What resources did you utilize to help you prepare for the search?

Internet and friends.

What are the two most important things you learned through your internship?

First, teamwork. In order to hold an activity/seminar (I'm working in marketing department) well and successfully, it is necessary for the team-members to have a good sense of teamwork.

Second, independence. Teamwork does not mean you can rely on others in the job. It means everyone should be responsible for his/her part of the whole job. Then they discuss and consolidate their parts into a successful product/activity.

What advice would you give other students looking for internships?

a.Work hard. It is very important to have a good GPA because good grade means your have good understanding and analysis ability.
b.Gain working experience. It means you have experience in handling social problems rather than merely academic questions. It means you will think practically instead of theoretically.

How are you connecting this internship to your academic, personal, and career future?

I learned a lot about communication skill, independence, teamwork, etc. which are significant to my myself and future work. With this piece of experience, I will do a better job and adapt myself more quickly in future work. From this internship, I also learned that GDP is important. So, I will work harder in the future study.
