The Department of Residence life can be very useful in providing guidance and answering any questions you may have about the process involved in finding off-campus housing.

Finding housing is an essential step to beginning your journey as a scholar here at Brandeis University. Although the University does not provide on-campus housing for scholars, there are a multitude of resources available to guide you during this process.

If you are looking for short-term housing solutions, feel free to take a look at a list of hotels close to campus.

The Office of International Students and Scholars provides additional resources on their website such as a housing alternative called Apartment Resources. They offer short-term and long-term leases for furnished studio apartments. Short-term leases require a minimum of a one-week stay for $500-$600 per week, while long-term leases require a stay of one month or more at a rate of $675-$875. Rent includes heat, electricity and hot water. You should make arrangements with this company well in advance. For an application, you can call 781-893-1130 or fax 781-891-6969.

For a more cost-effective solution, you can also make reservations at nearby hostels.

The search for off-campus housing can take time, so it is greatly recommended that you begin your search prior to arriving at Brandeis (around 2 weeks in advance).

Many scholars choose to live in apartment complexes nearby. However, there are many housing options available in the greater Boston area as well.

You can also refer to a couple of housing guides, developed by the Office of Graduate Student Affairs and the Department of Residence Life which provide an outline of the steps required to find off-campus housing.

Additional off-campus housing resources can be found on the Department of Residence Life's website.
