New Transfer Student Registration Information
Welcome to Brandeis!
As a transfer student you've already had the experience of registering for college classes so you should approach the registration process a bit differently than a first-semester freshman. The Office of the University Registrar has already been in contact with you and you should have received your transfer credit evaluation. Please review your evaluation carefully to understand the number of course credits you will receive as a transfer student. The evaluation will also indicate which general university requirements you have fulfilled and which you will need to complete in order to receive your degree from Brandeis. All transfer students are exempt from the University Seminar (USEM) requirement. Some transfer students are required to take the University Writing Seminar (UWS). Additional information on how to register for UWS classes can be found on the link below, Required First-Year Seminars Fact Sheet and FAQs.
Your transfer credit evaluation will be revised once the Office of the University Registrar receives your final grade reports/transcripts from your prior school(s). You may also be eligible for additional transfer credit if you have acceptable AP or IB examination scores. If you will be claiming your exam scores for credit, it is important to note any Brandeis course equivalents. Should you enroll in the equivalent course, course credit for the examinations will be revoked.
If you have any question about your transfer credit status, please contact Irene Widugiris (widugiris@brandeis.edu).
Academic Residency Requirement for Transfer Students
Students entering Brandeis as transfer students are required to complete 32 semester courses (equivalent to eight fulltime fall or spring semesters or 128 semesterhour course credits). At least four full-time fall or spring semesters (16 semester courses/ 64 semester hour course credits) must be completed in residence at Brandeis. Semesters on study abroad may not be counted toward the minimum.
