Celebrate Brandeis University's brave history and bright future as we mark our 75th anniversary beginning July 1, 2023.

Our year-long celebration will honor the university’s founding supporters, community members from the last 75 years, and the next generation of Brandeisians.

The 75th anniversary celebration will begin in July 2023 and follow through to a grand finale at the 2024 Commencement. Hosted on campus, online and around the world, festivities will include community gatherings, exciting events, shared Brandeisian stories, and more.

A visual identity system toolkit will be available, including the 75th anniversary logo that can be used on approved websites, invitations, programs, and banners. An online calendar for 75th events will also be developed as part of the 75th anniversary website.

Themes for the 75th

Four themes have been selected to create a cohesive tone of celebration throughout the 75th year. Each event submission must highlight at least one of the following themes, listed with examples, for inspiration, below:

Proposing Activities

We hope there will be many events and activities throughout the celebration year to help commemorate the 75th anniversary. These might include luncheons, seminars, panels with faculty and alumni, or other special events. You might have a regular event that you want to '75th-ify,' giving it an anniversary spin.

To suggest activities, please submit your proposal indicating how it supports one or more of the themes. For activities that are intended to take place in the fall semester of 2023, proposals must be submitted, using this form, by March 30, 2023.

To ensure that all events are scheduled in a coordinated way, only approved activities will be permitted to use the 75th logo and be listed on the 75th calendar.

Main Celebration Event

Oct. 13–15, 2023

The university’s main celebration event will take place from Friday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023. The entire Brandeis community — faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, and friends — will come together for a long weekend of celebration. Plans for the weekend include:

  • Interdisciplinary faculty-led panel discussions on Brandeis’ past, present and future
  • Student-alumni networking
  • A community Shabbat dinner
  • Presentation of the Sachar Award and the Alumni Achievement Award
  • Critical conversations on the most pressing issues of the day
  • Athletic competitions and performances by students and alumni
  • A dance party for everyone, with a live band
  • Conversations with illustrious alumni, led by nationally recognized podcaster Guy Raz ’96

Budget: The university is managing its financial resources to meaningfully celebrate this anniversary. This includes combining existing budgets and events in order to maximize efficiencies. All units that plan on holding special events are encouraged to do so with existing resources (there will not be a special budget or any additional funds available for 75th-related events).
