The Brandeis Counseling Center (BCC) offers a variety of mental health-focused programming for the campus community. Through workshops, trainings and supportive attendance at interdepartmental events, we partner with students, staff and faculty to heighten awareness of mental health and emotional wellness.
Below are our most frequently requested trainings. If you're looking for something more tailored, the BCC is happy to work with you to modify or create a custom workshop, training or presentation based on your needs.
To request a group training, presentation, or BCC staff attendance at one of your upcoming events, please complete the request form or reach out to the BCC at bcc@brandeis.edu.

What is therapy? Do I need it? Is it really for me? How do I schedule an appointment? We'd like to introduce you to the BCC! During this training, we'll review BCC services, our approach to mental health care, how to access the center and what you might expect when meeting with a team member.
QPR Gatekeeper training can be made available for all members of our Brandeis community. It is designed to help you understand your role in suicide prevention through data-driven, practical strategies.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) teaches attendees to recognize the warning signs of suicide, how to offer hope to someone in need, and how to get help. Similar to CPR as an emergency medical intervention that can be administered by anyone who has been certified, QPR is designed to increase the chance of survival in the event of a crisis. BCC's trained instructors provide this one-hour training, and attendees will receive a two-year certification upon completion.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is available to all members of our Brandeis community. It is a skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge.
MHFA training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. This training is available in multiple formats:
- In-person - a 7.5 hour, instructor-led session, physically in-person or over Zoom (can be scheduled over one, two, or four days)
- Blended - self-paced online course followed by a 4.5 to 5.5-hour, instructor-led training
