Do you have a question about the Brandeis Counseling Center (BCC)? The answer might be below.
The BCC is located in Mailman House, located at the edge of campus near the South Street bridge.
All enrolled graduate and undergraduate students may be seen at the BCC and/or Health Center.
Services include:
Short-Term Individual Therapy
Medication Evaluation and Management (For students actively engaged in counseling at the BCC)
The Community Therapy program provides individual mental health services at several locations around campus. These services are free and confidential, just like individual therapy at the BCC.
The Group Therapy program offers a variety of group topics each semester, where typically 4-8 students can engage with one another and the facilitator in a supportive, therapeutic space.
If you are interested in being seen at the BCC, your first step is to call 781-736-3730 from 9 A.M. to 5.PM., Monday through Friday to schedule an assessment.
We have psychologists, social workers, supervised interns, and psychiatrists.
All counseling sessions at the BCC are provided at no cost to students. The BCC will submit insurance claims for each visit but will not bill students for any balances not covered by their insurance company. Students simply present their health insurance card at their first appointment, just as they do when accessing care at home.
The information shared with staff at the BCC is confidential and no information will be released from the BCC without your consent. The BCC does not inform your parents or family, professors, or other university staff, or anyone else that you are in care, unless we have your permission to do so. There are a few rare exceptions:
If there is a risk of imminent danger to you or to another person, the clinician is ethically bound to take necessary steps to prevent harm, this could include breaking confidentiality. If there is an indication that a child, elder, or person with a disability is being physically or sexually abused, the clinician is legally required to notify the proper authorities. When a valid court order is issued by a judge for medical records, the clinician is bound by law to comply with such requests.
