ENACT delegates virtually visit Randolph-Macon ENACT studentsIn January, ENACT Faculty Fellow Prof. Rich Meagher of Randolph-Macon College in Virginia ENACT Student Delegate Tomas Cruz-Villalvazo, University of Utah ‘25 and ENACT Assistant Director David Weinstein via Zoom to his January term course “Virginia Politics in Action”.

They  shared ENACT resources and offered advice and support to current students. Cruz Villalvazo assured Randolph-Macon students that by preparing for their meetings and understanding the bills they will make a real impact in the legislative process.

The ENACT Student Delegates visited several other ENACT classes in the fall semester, and will continue meeting ENACT students across the country in the spring. Next up: ENACT courses at Rose State College in Oklahoma and at Brandeis University.

After the visit to Randolph-Macon College, Prof. Meagher’s ENACT students shared some of the highlights of the conversation:

The visit from David Weinstein and Tomas was super interesting and helped me see how policy and advocacy actually work in real life. It made the class feel more connected to what’s happening outside the classroom.

– Mike Brown ‘29

The ENACT network has helped me realize the importance of speaking out for those who lack a voice. It inspired me to advocate and be active in politics, contributing to those around me!

– Isabelle Cotrim ‘28

David and Tomas gave us a fantastic introduction about how the ENACT network helps young people get their foot in the door in the world of politics!

– Michael Lavanga ‘27

I had a great time getting to learn about the ENACT program. It is a great way to stay connected to people all across the country and get to learn from their perspectives and experiences.

– Lily Mitchell ‘29

The virtual visit was definitely intuitive and provided great insight to how the ENACT network works. It also went into detail with how students experience being a delegate and the legislative process in general.

– Rish Nambiar ’29

The ENACT virtual visit informed and inspired me to learn more about being an active participant in the political system. I realize now how big of an impact I can have beyond campus!
