The 2021 Learning Exchange is coming!
And the stage is for: Culture as sustainability
IMPACT has already produced six Learning Exchanges (LE), rich spaces of conversation among peers that, through dialogue, promote inquiry, reflection and learning. Critical issues that mobilize the ecosystem of art, culture and conflict transformation have been at the center of each conversation .
In 2021, the central topic of the LE will be Culture as Sustainability. Culture plays a key role in how we think and act for the common future. It is still under discussion how culture is presented in the sustainability scenario. A European Investigation Report[1] proposes three approaches: culture in sustainability in which culture becomes the fourth pillar of sustainability, along with the social, economic and ecological pillars; culture for sustainability, considering culture as a means to achieve economic, social and ecological sustainability; finally, culture as sustainability, where culture is a necessary basis upon which to achieve the general objectives of sustainability. In this representation, culture is also the stage, and sustainability is integrated in it. We believe in culture as sustainability since now, as never before, it is evident that we are facing a paradigm shift, and in that change, culture is at the base and runs through any possible new way of being together in the world.
Numerous networks, platforms, groups of artists, peace builders, Indigenous people, and groups of women and of young people around the world are creating knowledge and developing actions that contribute to this paradigm shift. IMPACT wants to contribute to the process of connection and deepening of reflection and action between them. That is why we propose this new dialogue.
When? LE Culture as Sustainability will take place the first week of November and it will be an online global conversation, where words, images and sounds, heart and reason will intersect to reflect and generate possibilities for action around issues that are essential to sustainability. IMPACT works with a core team to promote partnerships, preparatory events and the design of a unique space.
This Learning Exchange will be carried out on the Peace Direct platform, simultaneously in English and Spanish, based on the design and facilitation of a diverse group of co-conveners engaged with art, culture and conflict transformation.

¡El Learning Exchange 2021 se acerca!
Y en el centro de la escena: La cultura como sustentabilidad
IMPACT ha producido ya seis Intercambios de Aprendizaje, ricos espacios de conversación entre pares que, a través del diálogo, promueven la indagación, la reflexión y el aprendizaje. Los temas que más movilizan al ecosistema del arte, la cultura y la transformación de conflictos han estado en el centro de cada conversación.
Este 2021 el tema central del LE será La Cultura como Sustentabilidad. La cultura juega un rol clave en cómo pensamos y actuamos para el futuro común. Aun está en discusión cómo se presenta la cultura en el escenario de la sustentabilidad. Un informe europeo de investigación[1] nos propone tres modos: la cultura en la sustentabilidad en el que la cultura se convierte en el cuarto pilar de la sustentabilidad, junto con los pilares social, económico y ecológico; la cultura para la sustentabilidad, supone que la cultura es un medio para lograr la sustentabilidad económica, social y ecológica; finalmente la cultura como sustentabilidad, donde la cultura es una base necesaria para alcanzar los objetivos generales de la sustentabilidad. En esta representación la cultura es también el escenario y la sustentabilidad se encuentra integrada en ella. Creemos en la cultura como sustentabilidad ya que ahora, como nunca antes, se hace evidente que estamos ante un cambio de paradigma, y en ese cambio, la cultura se encuentra en la base y atraviesa cualquier posible nuevo modo de estar juntos en el mundo.
Numerosas redes, plataformas, grupos, de artistas, constructores de paz, pueblos indígenas, colectivos de mujeres, de jóvenes en todo el mundo crean conocimiento, desarrollan acciones que abonan este cambio de paradigma. Desde IMPACT queremos contribuir en el proceso de conexión y profundización de la reflexión y la acción entre ellos. Por ello proponemos este nuevo encuentro.
¿Cuándo? LE Cultura como Sustentabilidad se realizará la primera semana de noviembre y será una conversación global, on line, en la que se entrecruzarán las palabras, imágenes, el corazón y la razón para reflexionar y generar posibilidades de acción en torno a temas que son esenciales a la sustentabilidad. Impact trabaja con un equipo impulsor para promover alianzas, eventos preparatorios y el diseño de un espacio único.
Este Intercambio de Aprendizajes se realizará en la plataforma de Peace Direct, simultáneamente en inglés y en español en base al diseño y la facilitación de un equipo formado por IMPACT y otras instituciones y plataformas de arte, cultura y transformación de conflictos.
