Watanabe Scholars Events

Introducing Watanabe Scholars' Home Universities, 2026

Taira Sugai (University of Kyoto), Junon Law (Waseda University) and Ryo Aoyagi (Keio University) introduced their lives in Kyoto and Tokyo, part-time jobs, classes in Japan, the history of their universities and food culture. They arrived at Brandeis in September 2025 and have spent two semesters here.

Introducing Watanabe Scholars' Home Universities, 2025

Aoi Imoto, Ken Sakamoto and Ivan Zinov introduce Waseda University and Keio University's history and present on Tokyo's food culture, places of interest and history. Brandeis student Eben Saveson ’24 joined the presenters to share his experience studying abroad at Waseda University.

2024 Welcome Party

The Japanese Language Program hosted a welcome party for the four visiting Watanabe Scholars: Aoi Imoto and Ken Sakamoto (Waseda University), Ivan Zinov (Keio University) and Masato Eguchi (University of Tokyo). Students enrolled in JAPN 105a and JAPN 120a also attended.
