Sustainable Biotechnology

This course prepares students to incorporate sustainable practices into biotech operations, improving long-term viability. Principles and practices of sustainable biotechnology, focusing on environmental, economic, and social impacts will be key focus areas. Students will examine strategies for developing eco-friendly bioprocesses, reducing waste, and optimizing resource use. Topics include the circular bioeconomy, regulatory frameworks, and life cycle assessment of biotech products. Case studies will highlight sustainable innovations in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and industrial biotechnology.
