Discussion on US Immigration Policy
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
We all remain committed to the notion that part of our excellence at Brandeis comes from being a campus in which every member of our community is valued regardless of their country of origin. As we all try to understand and learn more about the recent executive order which restricts people from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, I invite you to a panel discussion on current developments in U.S. immigration policy. The discussion will occur this Wednesday, February 1, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the Shapiro Campus Center Theater. Participants on the panel include immigration attorney Madeline Cronin, Brandeis ISSO director Jodi Hanelt, Brandeis ICC director Madeleine López, and Brandeis Chief Diversity Officer Mark Brimhall-Vargas.
Attorney Cronin will be able to provide background and answer questions on issues such as the legal context for all of this sweeping change, what this may mean for optional practical training (OPT), as well as issues for DACA/DAPA students and employees.
Best regards,
Lisa M. Lynch, Provost
