Andrea Dine Appointed as Vice President of Student Affairs
February 28, 2023
Dear Members of the Brandeis Community,
I’m pleased to announce that Andrea Dine, a committed, compassionate, and longstanding advocate for Brandeis’ students, has accepted the position of vice president of student affairs.
Andrea has served the Brandeis community for 15 years, in various roles beginning at the Hiatt Career Center, where she became its executive director. She has worked in the office of the vice president of student affairs for more than six years, most recently as the division’s interim vice president of student affairs. We are delighted that she has agreed to remove the interim tag from her title.
Andrea is deeply dedicated to Brandeis’ values of academic excellence and social justice, and she is passionate about furthering the university’s strategic vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion, to which she was a key contributor. Above all, she has a unique ability to listen, and to help students find solutions to problems, and pursue opportunities for growth.
In the face of difficult times, Andrea has provided a strong, guiding, and empathetic presence for our community. As we confronted the COVID-19 pandemic, she was an integral member of the university’s COVID-19 management team, leading our campus to be able to reopen safely in 2020, while providing much needed resources for students, faculty, and staff alike who were dealing with the realities of a new normal. Recently, she and her team spent countless hours in the wake of the shuttle accident connecting students to family members and friends, while providing critical resources for grieving community members.
As vice president of student affairs, Andrea is wholeheartedly committed to the division's mission: to provide programs, services, and resources that contribute to the overall educational mission, build community, provide support, and create an inclusive, vibrant Brandeis experience for our graduate and undergraduate students.
Prior to coming to Brandeis, Andrea contributed to Macalester College, the University of Minnesota, the University of Cincinnati, and Wesleyan University, where she worked in career services, residential life, student orientation, women's centers, student activities, and the registrar's office.
We are thrilled that she will be staying here at Brandeis. Please join me in offering Andrea your congratulations when you see her around campus.
Best regards,
Carol A. Fierke
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
