Office of Access and Excellence
Dear Brandeis Community,
We are pleased to announce that Lee Bitsóí will head the newly created Office of Access and Excellence with the title of vice provost. This office will focus on recruitment, support, and retention of students, faculty, and staff.
This new office will allow us to better coordinate resources and initiatives that remove barriers and create pathways for success for all students, faculty and staff. It will also enable Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Human Resources to collaborate more closely across our four schools, creating a unified approach to community engagement and support.
This new unit will include a number of collaborative training programs and initiatives: the Intercultural Center and Gender and Sexuality Center will develop student training; Student Accessibility Support will provide guidance on disability, accessibility and neurodiversity; and the Center for Teaching and Learning will collaborate with the Office of Access and Excellence to provide faculty training with the Library providing expertise to assist in developing robust learning modules.
The Office of Equal Opportunity will continue to provide student, staff and faculty training related to the university’s Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment and Sexual Violence. The Human Resources Talent and Learning Unit, in collaboration with Lee, will provide training related to employee search and selection.
Our commitment to our founding values remains unwavering as we implement this university-wide approach to strengthening a sense of belonging for all in our community.
Please visit the Office of Access and Excellence for additional information.
In community,
Carol Fierke
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
