BGI Fellows Held a Purim Carnival for Russian and Israeli Students

PurimLena Vaynberg '13, Julia Blanter '13 with generous support from Victor Zhivich '13, in collaboration with Rabbi Dan Rodkin of the Jewish Russian Center &  Synagogue of Boston, held a Purim Carnival for Russian and Israeli students of all ages as well as their siblings on Thursday, March 8th at Shaloh House Elementary School in Brookline, MA.

The carnival involved a  number of stations such as "Color in the Story of Purim" and "Decorate your Own Hamentashen," resulting in a lot of   excitement and ultimately a successful event. The room was crowded with children as their parents enjoyed the reading the Megilah By Rabbi Rodkin.  The kids were able to grab different goodies to take home with them such as crowns, beads, and various other prizes.

We have made  arrangements to continue volunteering with Shaloh House in the future, particularly during their Science Fair season on April 9th from 3-6 p.m. as project  advisors.
