The mission of the Brandeis-Genesis Institute (BGI) is to prepare Russian-speaking students from around the world to become effective community leaders fortified by Jewish knowledge, a systematic understanding of Russian Jewry, and a commitment to the future of the Jewish people.

Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program

Russian speaking Jewish leaders of the 21st century must be able to understand trends, frame issues, and apply professional skills in new and creative ways. To address these challenges, Hornstein offers students intensive professional training and carefully selected field experiences in three graduate-level dual-degree programs. Learn More.

MonicaMonica Pevzner '12 (MA/MPP)

    Once graduating from the Hornstein Program, Monica Pevzner staffed a Birthright trip in Israel for ten days. Upon her return to the states, she moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area. She is currently employed at the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco as the Project Director of the South Peninsula Jewish Teen Foundation.
 

Julia SmirnovaJulia Smirnova '12 (MA/MBA)

    Julia graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management and a Master of Arts (MA) in Jewish Professional Leadership from Brandeis University. After her graduation she continued her involvement with Havurah, a unique summer camp for Russian-speaking teenagers, and now serves as the Havurah Program Manager at Camp Tel Yehudah.

Vlad

Vlad Khaykin '11 (MA/MA)

     After graduating from the Hornstein Program, Vlad traveled to Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine to manage an English language summer program for the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston. Having completed his mission to Dnepropetrovsk, Vlad then returned to Brandeis University to work for the Bima-Genesis summer programs. Vlad currently serves as an Assistant Direcotr at the American Jewish Commitee chapter in Philadelphia.

Dmitry

Dmitry Levin '11 (MA/MBA)

     Dmitry graduated from the Hornstein Program with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management and a Master of Arts (MA) in Jewish Professional Leadership from Brandeis University.  He is now the CFO of Genesis Philanthropy Group and Senior Investment Associate at Alfa-Access-Renova (AAR) Consortium.


Svetlana

Svetlana Muterperel '11 (MA/MBA) 

     Svetlana graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management and a Master of Arts (MA) in Jewish Professional Leadership from Brandeis University.  Svetlana is currently serving as a Program Executive at the UJA Federation of New York.
