Diana received her BS degree with a double major in Biology and Russian Language and Literature. Diana is taking a year off before heading to dental school. Meanwhile she is enjoying life in Boston and working at a pharmaceutical company. In her free time she loves to hang out with her sister and her 2 baby nieces.
Vlad received his BA in Economics with a minor in Russian and East European Studies. After completing his Investment Banking summer internship at Wells Fargo, he traveled to Netherlands to study at Erasmus University in Rotterdam during the fall semester. Vlad will return to Brandeis in the Spring of 2012 to complete his graduate school. In the meantime, Vlad plans to continue creating electronic music DJ sets in celebration of his 10 years as a DJ.
Julian graduated with BA cum laude with high honors in Economics, European Cultural Studies and English Literature and a minor in Business. He was awarded the Fulbright Fellowship for the 2011-12 academic year to explore the economics of the glass-blowing industry in Sweden. He will be based at the Växjö Glass Museum, in Växjö, southeastern Sweden. He learned a great deal as a BGI fellow these past two years at Brandeis, and looks forward to applying this knowledge and experience upon his return to the US.
Julia graduated with a BS double major in Health: Science, Society, and Policy, and Russian Studies, and a minor in Business. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in International Health Policy and Management at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management. Julia is very excited to be able to remain close to her BGI family at Brandeis for another year, and to see the wonderful progress of the program.
Helen graduated with a BS in Neuroscience and a minor in Classical Studies. She currently works as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. In the future, she plans on attending law school to further her career goals of working within healthcare or pharmaceutical industries, specializing in the legal aspect of these fields.
Avraham Eli Tukachinsky
Eli graduated with a BA in Studio Arts and Biology. He is interning with the Brandeis Genesis High School Summer program. Throughout the summer of 2011 Eli worked at Genesis summer program at Brandeis, creating and facilitating educational programs that target teens to spark their curiosity in Jewish topics, ranging from religious rituals to Tikkun Olam. He is studying to certify as AFAA Private Training Instructor and plans to apply his skills in his local JCC. He continues being connected with the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center and the Gesher Program through volunteering with elderly and youth from the FSU.
Nera graduated with BA in Economics and Art History, and a minor in Russian Studies. She is currently the gallery manger of Danziger Gallery in New York where she continues to learn more about the intersection of her academic interests. Nera is thankful for the memory, support, and opportunity provided to her through the BGI experience. She looks forward to her future involvement with the program.
Julia BlanterJulia was born in Boston, and graduated from Governor's Academy in Byfield, MA. She frequently travels to Russia as both her parents emigrated
from Moscow. She majored in economics, math and medicine. At Brandeis, Julia worked with children and explored educational opportunities in the Jewish community. Julia was the Vice President of External Affairs in the Brandeis University Russian Culture Club.
Lev was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia and moved to Israel when he was two years old. After living in Israel for eight years his family moved to Massachusetts. Lev graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham, MA. Lev was planning on going to medical school and becoming a doctor after graduating from Brandeis.
Eleazar was born in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York, NY. Eleazar is a member of the National Hebrew Honors Society, Arista National Honors Society, Big Sibs and NCSY as well as the Brandeis track team. At Brandeis, Eleazar majored in economics and business and now is pursuing a degree in Law.
Daniel was born in Brooklyn, NY after his family moved to New York from St. Petersburg, Russia. Dan graduated from Fair Lawn High School in Fair Lawn, NJ. He was majoring in mathematics and minoring in economics and philosophy. Daniel was investigating the actuarian profession.
Annie was born in Kingston, PA two years after her parents emigrated from Minsk, Belarus. Annie graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA. Annie double majored in Biology and Health: Science, Society, and Policy, with a minor in business. She was the VP of external affairs in Russian Club, as well as the freshman representative for the Tennis Club. She wished to pursue a medical career while staying closely connected to the Russian Jewish community.
Julia was born in Kingston, PA two years after her parents emigrated from Minsk, Belarus. Julia graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA. She double majored in Business and Health: Science, Society and Policy. She was an active member in various clubs on campus, including VP of Publicity in Russian Club, Hooked on Tap and Adagio, and tennis club. She pursued a career in pharmaceutical management and, in the future, wants to volunteer in Israel.
Frederick was born in White Plains, NY. His parents and older brother emigrated from Ukraine in 1983. He graduated from Fair Lawn High School in Fair Lawn, NJ. Freddy majored in biology and psychology. Frederick had been an enthusiastic and valuable member of the tennis team. He is pursuing a career in medicine after graduation.
Esther was born in Be'er Sheva, Israel. She graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester, MA. She majored in psychology and minored in Near Middle Eastern Studies. She was a member and coach of her high school swim team, as well as a lifeguard at the Frances and Jacob Hiatt Jewish Community Center.
Lena was born in California. Lena's mother emigrated from Azerbaijan and her father from Belarus in the 1980s. Lena graduated from the Chadwick School in Palos Verde's, CA. She studied biology, Spanish, and Russian at Brandeis and pursued a career in medicine. At Brandeis, Lena was involved in the pre-health society, was Co-Vice President of External Affairs of Russian Club and was a member of the freshmen living learning community.
Victor was born in St. Petersburg Russia. He graduated from Westborough High School in Westborough, MA. He was interested in biochemistry and neuroscience. As his community outreach project in 2009-10, Victor video recorded his grandfather and great uncle's life stories in St. Petersburg during the blockade. Victor continues to volunteer in the Russian Jewish community.
