Discounted MBTA Semester Passed
Forms and Information
Discounted passes are available to students through Graduate Student Affairs. Forms are due in the Graduate Student Center, Kutz Hall room 124 MS 207, by January 8th 2008. Download the form. Download price information.
NEW THIS SEMESTER: We have two options for payment: 1) Pay upfront for all 4 months, as you've done in the past, or 2)You can pay for your pass on a monthly basis instead of all at once!! If you order a pass, however, you are obligating yourself to pay for the entire cost. If you default, the charge will go to your bill and could result in a hold on your registration or your transcript!
This is a pilot program for spring semester and is the result of student suggestions. We hope it will be successful and that we'll be able to continue it--but it's up to YOU! If you currently use the bus/train systems, please sign-up for a pass for second semester. You can pick it up (and pay for it) monthly in the Graduate Student Center.
Bus
MBTA Bus 553: This bus runs from Newton Corner in Newton to the Brandeis/Roberts Station, with stops in front of campus, runs through much of Moody Street, Main Street, and South Street in Waltham, and stops at the Waltham Station where connections the Commuter Rail and various other bus routes can be made. This bus is $1.25 with Charlie Card, or $1.50 for cash or Charlie Ticket. Monthly passes are $40 (valid for all buses). Printable maps and schedules are available.
Brandeis Waltham Shuttle: Brandeis also offers a shuttle bus connecting campus to the downtown Moody Street area, running a similar route to the Waltham part of 553. This is free but only runs from 8 am to 4 pm. The schedule can be found here.
Trains & Rail
Commuter train service ("Communter Rail") is available from Boston's North Station (Fitchburg / South Acton line) to the Brandeis/Roberts Station which borders the campus (across the street from Epstein / Women's Studies Research Center). Check the MBTA commuter rail schedules for more information. There is also a printable PDF of the schedule.
Van Service
Public Safety operates a campus van service in the evenings. The shuttle van schedule contains approximate times and stop locations.
To / From Airport
The nearest airport is Boston's Logan Airport. Once you arrive in Boston, you may take the train (though there is no direct line from the airport to Brandeis), or may choose to use a Shuttle Van service. Two companies that serve the Brandeis area are The Airporter and Shuttle King.
For more information, please check out the Transportation page on the Graduate Student Services site.
