Resources Available to Students

Reflect, Explore, Connect

The Hiatt Career Center has outlined a plan of suggested progress toward career development goals for students that will allow them to chart your progress toward educational and career goals during your four years at Brandeis. The plan includes concrete suggestions like when and how to develop resumes and cover letters, as well as less specific suggestions such as activities to build leadership skills, should you be thinking about a career in politics or business, for example.

To support students in their process, Hiatt offers the following:

Career Counseling Appointments

Our career counseling sessions provide support, information and guidance to students at all stages of their career development. Individual appointments are either one hour in length or one half hour in length, and can take place in person or over the phone. Career counseling sessions can cover a wide variety of topics and concerns including career exploration and decision making, decisions about graduate school, job search strategiesresume and cover letter critiques, interview and networking preparation, negotiating salaries and others terms of employment. The best way to schedule an appointment is to call 781-736-3618.

Shadowing Program

Internships and WOW
Internships are supervised work experiences in which students combine critical thinking and intentional reflection with your liberal arts interests. By embarking on an internship, students will be able to sharpen your skills, develop career interests and employer contacts, assess your strengths, and connect classroom theories to practice in real world settings.  Hiatt also administers WOW, the World of Work program. This program offers scholarships for first years, sophomores, and juniors who want to intern during the summer with organizations that do not have the financial resources to provide a salary.

Programs and Events
Hiatt offers a variety of events throughout the year including recruitment and graduate/professional school fairs, networking events, career panels and skill-building workshops.

Internship and Job Postings
B.hired houses thousands of internship and job postings from employers seeking to hire Brandeis students and alumni.

On-campus Recruiting

Credential Service
A credential folder contains materials which support students' application for jobs or admission to graduate schools. Included are letters of recommendation, transcripts and other appropriate items that support your candidacy.  The folder is maintained by the Hiatt Career Center and upon request, forwarded to potential employers or graduate schools.  This service will be provided online starting September 1, 2008. * Please note: Medical school recommendations are handled by Academic Services.
