Commencement

Letter from the President

Dear Graduates of the Class of 2026,

Commencement is a time to celebrate your achievements — and to honor those who helped you reach this moment. Your families, professors, mentors and friends have been part of your journey, and today reflects the culmination of the resilience, dedication and heart that first brought you here.

As a fellow Brandeis alumnus, I know firsthand how this university can shape your life. It’s where I found my purpose, built lasting friendships and met my wife, Linda. It’s where I began to see the world not only as it is, but as it could be.

Brandeis is a singular institution — a research university with the soul of a liberal arts college, grounded in Jewish values and open to all, shaped by a commitment to academic rigor, passionate inquiry and social justice. These ideals are not abstract; they are lived every day in classrooms, labs, studios and conversations across campus.

As you move into the next chapter, let the values that shaped you here — and your commitment to something greater than yourself — guide your path. The world you’re entering is complex and fast-changing, but I am confident that you are prepared to meet it with integrity, creativity and conviction. Brandeis’ commitment to repairing the world is needed now more than ever.

And wherever you go, know that Brandeis goes with you. You are, and always will be, a part of this community.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. I can’t wait to see what you do next.

With admiration and pride,
