Rights, Rules and Rhetoric

Exploring language and migration in Australia, Europe and North America. The Language, Culture and Justice Hub, hosted by Brandeis University, is organizing an online “learning exchange” that will explore diverse language challenges facing migrants as they navigate legal and other critical contexts, work in academic/professional settings, and respond to rhetoric that (mis)(re)presents them across three continents.

Ask a #BrandeisAbroad Alum: Joel Burt-Miller '16 (HSSP/BIO)

Join the Office of Study Abroad to chat with Brandeis alum, Joel Burt-Miller ’16. Joel graduated from Brandeis with majors in HSSP and Biology. As a junior, he studied abroad on the SIT/ South Africa: Community Health and Social Policy program in Durban, South Africa. As a student, he was a Study Abroad Ambassador, a member of the SCC Campus Center Team, a Global Medical Brigades Volunteer, Waltham Group Prospect Hill Community Coordinator, Culture X/MELA/Night for Africa Hip Hop Performer, and the 2016 Undergraduate Student Commencement Speaker. Since graduating from Brandeis, Joel was awarded the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship to teach English in New Delhi, India. He then received a Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the Duke University School of Medicine. He is now a second year Medical Student at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville.
