GlebovProfessor Sergey Glebov is a historian of the Russian Empire/USSR at Smith and Amherst Colleges whose research focuses on intellectual, political, and cultural history of the Russian empire and the Soviet Union, and on ideologies of imperial expansion and Russian nationalism. He is the founding editor of Ab Imperio: Studies in New Imperial History and Nationalism in the Post-Soviet Space.

GessenMasha Gessen is a Russian and American journalist and a prominent LGBT activist.

She is the author of The Man Without a Face: The Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin. She is a contributor to many publications, including Vanity Fair, NewsweekandSlate, and has served as the editor of several magazines.
