BA/BS-MAT Program for Brandeis Undergraduates

“The exposure and experience I am getting (in the MAT) is all one could really ask for in order to be a quality educator.... I love that along with the classes, I get real time experience to put theory to practice." - Terry Shaipitisiri'BA/BS-MAT'17

A cost-effective, expedient path to a teaching career!

Who is eligible: Brandeis undergraduates who can complete their course requirements by the fall of the senior year.

How much time is involved: just two additional summer sessions, before and after your senior year.

You should apply in the fall of your junior year. If you are accepted, you will join other MAT students in an intensive five-week three course summer program after the junior year. The following fall, you will continue to take graduate level education courses as well as complete your undergraduate coursework. After completing your BA or BS in December, you will become a full-time MAT student for the spring (when you do a full time teaching internship) and for that final summer semester after your senior year.

The Brandeis MAT offers prospective teachers opportunities to develop a reflective stance on teaching and learning challenges in the classroom and to pursue teacher research projects to learn how to conduct educational research. Ten semester BA or BS - MAT students will be able to eliminate a fifth year earning a master’s degree, move more quickly into the workforce, and reduce tuition payments by one semester, thus reducing student debt.
