Fall 2014 Course Highlights -
REL 107a our PRS' Core Course requirement also fulfill humanities or non-western University course requirement.
REL 121a fulfills one of our PRS Electives requirements; but it can also fulfill a writing intensive or non-western University course requirement.
REL/SAS 152a fulfills one of our PRS Traditions requirements; but it also can fulfill humanities or non-western University course requirement as well as being crosslisted with SouthEast Asian Studies.

Requirements for the Minor

Students wishing to minor in religious studies must complete the following requirements:

  1. Core course: REL 107a (Introduction to World Religions), ANTH 80a, and NEJS 3a all  presently fulfill this Core Course requirement. Ideally, the core course should be taken early in the student's career at Brandeis, but not necessarily as the first course in the program.
  2. At least two courses covering at least two different religious traditions from the traditions courses listed here.
  3. At least two courses from the list of electives listed here. A senior essay (REL 97a or 97b) may replace one of the two electives with the approval of the program chair.
  4. A passing letter grade must be obtained in each course taken for program credit. Pass/fail courses are not allowed. Students must achieve a GPA of at least 2.0 in program courses.
