Exploring Peace

In today’s global society, how do the arts contribute to social transformation and building peace? Explore these ideas at our virtual center of Creative Resources for Coexistence and Reconciliation.

The Arts and Social Justice

Brandeis University's commitment to social justice is reflected in many of the university's arts programs and research centers. We believe that the arts play a significant role in tikkun olam — “repairing the world.”

The International Center for Ethics, Justice and Public Life is home to the Slifka Program in Intercommunal Coexistence. Working with theater, music and visual artists around the globe, it explores the intersection of the arts and peace-building.

The Women's Studies Research Center is where art, research and activism converge. It is home to the Kniznick Gallery, the only exhibition space in New England devoted to women's art.

MusicUnitesUS brings international musicians to Brandeis for a series of public concerts and innovative educational programs. Each residency invites the audience to experience the diverse histories and cultural memories — indeed, the heart and soul of a people — through the narrative of music. By connecting cultural understanding with the artistry, MusicUnitesUs seeks to transcend global boundaries and nurture an empathetic understanding of the world.
