Declaring the Linguistics Major or Minor
The process for declaring a Ling major or minor is very easy! You do not need to fill out the major/minor declaration form or plan out which courses you’ll take in each semester before declaring your Linguistics major or minor.
Here are the steps to follow to declare your Linguistics major or minor:
- Meet with a Linguistics undergraduate advisor during their office hours or by appointment, if you can’t attend their regular office hours.
- You can find this semester’s Linguistics undergraduate advisors and their advising office hour schedule on the Linguistics advising webpage.
- You do not need to prepare anything for this meeting, but you may want to look over our advising worksheets with the requirements for the Linguistics major and minor before the meeting.
- At the meeting, we’ll talk through the requirements for the Linguistics major or minor that apply to you based on the semester and year in which you entered Brandeis, how these requirements can be satisfied, and which requirements you have already satisfied. We’ll also answer any questions you may have.
- At the end of the meeting, if you would like to go ahead with declaring the Linguistics major or minor, we'll submit the declaration request for you in Workday. It usually takes the Registrar's Office a day or two to add the major or minor to your Workday record.
