Frederick Alt was elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) at the group’s 41st annual meeting in October 2011. Election to the IOM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service. Frederick is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator, the Charles A. Janeway Professor of Pediatrics and professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School, and president of the Immune Disease Institute at Children’s Hospital Boston.
