Leonard Jason, a professor of psychology at DePaul University and the director of the Center for Community Research, received DePaul’s College of Science and Health Research Award. He has been a member of the DePaul faculty for 38 years and is regarded as a leading community behavioral health psychologist. His research includes developing ways to reduce underage youth’s access to tobacco, establishing the scientific basis of chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis and demonstrating the effectiveness of recovery homes run by people recovering from alcoholism in preventing residents from relapsing. Susan Tabbat Wurzel published a personal essay in “Gathered Light: The Poetry of Joni Mitchell’s Songs.” Jackie Hyman, a former reporter for the Associated Press, has sold more than 95 novels, including romances, mysteries and supernatural thrillers. As Jacqueline Diamond, she currently writes the Safe Harbor Medical series for Harlequin American Romance, which published “The Surprise Holiday Dad” in January. Jackie and her husband, Kurt Wilson, have been married 35 years. Margo (Hausdorff) and Michael Vale moved from Huntington, N.Y., to Tucson, Ariz. After Michael’s successful triple coronary bypass in 2011, they decided winter would be better spent in a warmer climate. During the summer, they come back east to see friends and family in Portsmouth, R.I. Their son Edward is engaged and lives in Washington, D.C.
