Lynne Blumer Beattie, formerly a K-12 digital-literacy coordinator in the Concord-Carlisle (Massachusetts) schools, has been named principal of Gloucester’s O’Maley Innovation Middle School. David Marcu, the CEO of Israel Elwyn, a nonprofit organization providing support services to more than 4,000 children and adults with disabilities, has lived in Israel since 1984. He is a new member of the board of directors of Civic Leadership, the umbrella organization of all nonprofit organizations in Israel. He is celebrating the birth of a granddaughter, Liya, who joins her brother, Shoham Tzvi. Richard Menkis, PhD’88, received the 2018 Louis Rosenberg Canadian Jewish Studies Distinguished Service Award from the Association for Canadian Jewish Studies. He is currently associate professor of medieval and modern Jewish history at the University of British Columbia. Martin Milkman is completing his 30th year at Kentucky’s Murray State University, where he serves as a professor of economics and the director of the MS program in economics. In February, he celebrated his 25th anniversary with his wife, Velvet, who is the women’s golf coach and senior women’s administrator at Murray State. Suzi Solomon is the supervisor of the Brandeis/WATCH Housing Advocacy Clinic, a free drop-in service for the low-income and immigrant community in downtown Waltham. The clinic — which was founded by Laura Goldin, professor of the practice of environmental studies — is staffed by Brandeis volunteers. Suzi lives in Acton, Massachusetts, with her husband and two children.
