Lionel “Chicu” Capriles, P’20, is proud to report that daughter Andrea ’20 is attending Brandeis. “Because of her, I was delighted to visit the Brandeis campus for the first time since graduating in 1987,” he writes. The family lives on Curaçao. Adam Deutsch and wife Rivka, who live in New Jersey, welcomed the birth of twin girls, Alexa and Eden, in December 2015. The twins joined three older siblings: Sam, Joelle and Eliana. Adam has a cardiology practice in Manhattan’s Upper East Side and is assistant professor of cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Rivka owns BeSu Salon and Day Spa in Manhattan. Judge Gustavo Gelpí became chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico on April 12. Bela (Apparao) Labovitch, P’17, is director of engineering at athenahealth, where 35 other Brandeis alumni also work. She attended the bar mitzvah of Lili (Getztain) Raphael’s son Eli, along with Melanie Henriques and Odelia Zalayet, and reports it was “a lovely mini Brandeis reunion.” Bela’s son Kris ’17 is a Brandeis graduate. Adam Miller is in his 21st year as deputy attorney general for the state of California. Gill Schor is an entrepreneur working on his second startup, the digital magazine SportsHistory-Weekly.com. Michele (Bythrow) Steinberg is celebrating 26 years of marriage; 16 years in wildfire-safety work at the National Fire Protection Association; and 12 seasons as a volunteer tour guide with Boston By Foot, leading tourists and locals for walks and talks (and boat tours) around her favorite city.
