Katherine Abrams, P’16, writes, “Being a retired art teacher married to a retired attorney made lockdown easier for us than for our three adult daughters, who were well but more stressed. Daughter Judith ’16 postponed her wedding, which now might happen this fall.” Michael Goldenkranz, who as a Brandeis first-year lived in Shapiro B, sends in his appreciation for the late Carl J. Shapiro, H’03, “for choosing Brandeis to be his legacy and providing opportunities for kids like me, who attended because of scholarships, grants and work study.” Sharon Hammer Rubin writes, “I hope by the time you read this my husband and I have managed to visit my mother in Florida, and our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter in California, none of whom we’ve seen in person in over a year.” Meryl Newman-Cedar and Phil Cedar live in Scarsdale, New York, and also spend time in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Phil has retired from practicing law. Meryl still practices as a pediatrician in Manhattan. They are enjoying their four grandchildren, all under the age of 3. Jane (Goldman) Ostrowsky and husband Mark, both P’06, P’13, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Jane has been showing real estate and says she’s grateful to be able to schedule trips to see family again. Betsy (Sarason) Pfau enjoyed attending the Zoom Seder led by her brother Richard Sarason ’69, the Deutsch Family Professor of Rabbinics and Liturgy at Hebrew Union College. In addition to a documentary on the 1971 Attica prison riot, which will premiere on Showtime in September, Thomas Phillips is currently scoring two other films, on Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, both for PBS. Sylvia Vigliani has been invited to exhibit her sculptural photography, which draws on her interests in archaeology, at the 2022 Biennale in Venice, Italy. Her website is at www.sylviavigliani.com.
