Overview

Employer Relations at Hiatt

In addition to career counselors, the Hiatt Career Center also has an Employer Relations team dedicated to:

Employer Partnerships

Hiatt’s Employer Relations team partners with hundreds of employers in many industries to bring you job and internship postings, networking opportunities, and educational events.  From Fortune 100 companies to start-up NGOs, Hiatt’s Employer Relations team understands the varied career interests of Brandeis students and is always looking to develop and enhance relationships with exciting employers.

Hiatt recently launched the Employer Partners Program to further engage our most committed employers. Beyond being leaders in their fields, these employers are leaders on campus - recruiting Brandeis students and alumni for jobs/internships and helping you develop professional skills. There are many opportunities to connect with Hiatt's employer partners throughout the year, including participating in Hiatt's campus recruiting program; browsing jobs/internships in B.hired; and attending employer events.  Contact Cary Weir Lytle to learn more.

Campus Recruiting Overview

Did you know that many employers consider Brandeis a "target school" for top student talent?  Because of this, they work with the Employer Relations team to set special deadlines in B.hired just for Brandeis students to apply for their jobs and/or internships.  Interviews typically follow these deadlines, either on-campus at Hiatt or off-campus, through Skype or over the phone.  This collective process is called Campus Recruiting.

Campus Recruiting kicks off in the fall and lasts from approximately mid-September through the beginning of December.  Spring recruiting starts in the last week of January and runs through the early May.  Please note that recruiting schedules vary per industry.  For example, a majority of investment banking, finance and consulting firms recruit early in the fall semester so it is important to get started early, whereas smaller nonprofits may start recruiting later in the year when they have a better sense of their hiring needs.

Benefits of Campus Recruiting

Campus Recruiting is a great addition to your job and/or internship search. Conducting research online and reviewing employer websites provides you with limited information.  Participating in Campus Recruiting gives you the opportunity to connect with employers and Brandeis alumni in your field of interest.  When an employer posts a position in B.hired and/or comes to campus to participate in a career forum or to conduct an information session, they are actively seeking you out to educate you about different career paths and/or recruit you for opportunities.  The number of applicants employers receive through B.hired will be relatively small compared to the number of applicants they receive through their website, and you can be assured that they will at least look at, and consider, your application.

Campus Recruiting Requirements

In order to participate in Hiatt's recruiting opportunities (e.g. campus interviews, resume collections, and the Hiatt Resume Database) you must complete these three requirements:

  1. Get your resume reviewed and approved by a Hiatt counselor.
  2. Watch the Campus Recruiting Online Workshop and complete the accompanying quiz.

  3. Read, sign and submit Hiatt's Integrity and Social Responsibility Contract.

Today’s job market is extremely competitive, and Hiatt wants you to put your best foot forward. By completing Hiatt’s Campus Recruiting requirements, you are sending a message to employers that you are a strong candidate with a polished resume who is serious about the position.

Also, recruiters that consistently see well-prepared resumes from Brandeis students are much more likely to schedule subsequent interviews.  Over time, this means more opportunities for all students.

Additionally, when you meet with employers through Campus Recruiting, you are an ambassador for Brandeis.  We know any employer will be impressed by the quality of our students, and we want to ensure that they consistently have a great experience so they keep coming back.  Since we have instituted this system, employers have been even more impressed by your professionalism.
