About The Program

Students on the 2011 JBS Program

Who should consider this program?

The program is intended for upper level undergraduates who have a solid understanding of programming in Java as well as in developing, analyzing and using data structures and algorithms based on specified problem constraints. This program is also open to graduate students.

Students outside of Brandeis University can apply to this summer JBS Program. For more information on the application process, please contact Alyssa Grinberg. Only students who are matriculated at Brandeis will be able to enroll in a fall or spring JBS program. Students entering a masters program at Brandeis University may enroll in a JBS program at the discretion of the respective program, provided the student meets the admissions criteria and provided space is available.

Prerequisites

Undergraduates: COS11a and 12b or 21a. Exceptions might be granted at the discretion of the instructor.

Application Deadline

March 16, 2012!

Applications must be submitted on-line by NOON on the stated deadline.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis until the closing deadline.

Students are encouraged to apply well before the admissions deadline. Qualified applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis so applying early is to everyone's advantage. Provided spaces are still available, applications will be reviewed up until the deadline of March 16. The JBS website will contain information in the event that a particular summer JBS program reaches student capacity before the admissions deadline.

For more details refer to the Application section.

Additional Application Requirement

Once applications are submitted and complete, students will have to submit the solution to a programming puzzle as the final step of the admissions process. The puzzle will allow the applicant to demonstrate that they are well prepared for a successful JBS experience.
