Hebrew Concentration

There is a critical need in the field for Hebrew teachers that not only are fluent in the language but also grounded in the principles of second language learning and can make Hebrew come alive in day school classrooms for American children. This new track combines Brandeis’ strengths in teaching Hebrew with DeLeT’s expertise in Jewish teacher education.

In 13 intensive months, students will spend a full academic year working in a local day school classroom with a mentor teacher in addition to Brandeis course work.

Graduates of the Hebrew teaching track will earn a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and understand the principles of second language learning, have a repertoire of pedagogical strategies, be familiar with the major Hebrew language programs used in Jewish day schools and know how to develop new materials and adapt prepared materials to meet their goals and the needs of their students.

Thanks to the Rosenblatt Charitable Trust, we are able to offer generous tuition scholarships.
