The Death of the Last Black Man...

By Suzan-Lori Parks
At The Rose Art Museum

The Brandeis Ensemble Theater invites you to experience the life of the last black man in the whole entire world.

A "colored museum"-esque play, Suzan-Lori Parks tells a story of 'Blackman with Watermelon' who experiences multiple deaths. A comedy, Parks incorporates an essence of jazz. The A-A-A-B-A progression re-interprets time and creates an interactive experience for the audience. Playing with the roots of diasporic Afrikkan culture, Parks challenges us all to explore the ways in which we have participated in the death of the last black man in the whole entire world.
